Would you like to be featured as a guest on The Making of Madrid? I love doing interviews with people who can offer another perspective on the city, whether they be writers, tour guides, small business owners, podcasters, historians or simply enthusiasts. If you think you fit the bill please email me. It’s fine if you’ve got something to promote but you need to give me an angle for an episode that will be of interest to my audience with the focus tightly on Spain’s capital.
People want to hear an insider’s insights, so when you put a pitch together think about why a newcomer to Madrid, be they a tourist or resident, will want to hear what you’ve got to say. Previous episodes that have worked well have been Joy Figueroa’s guide to foodie Madrid, Stephen Phelan’s episode on Hemingway’s Madrid and Luke Darracott on Madrid’s wine world.
A few things to bear in mind
- I’m looking for evergreen content that will be of use in years to come, so one-off events don’t really fit the bill.
- Subjects I’m particularly interested in hearing about: food, travel tips, history, architecture and neighbourhood guides beyond ones I’ve already covered.
- You don’t need to live in the city to pitch but you do need to know it well, so tell me what expertise you’re bringing to an interview.
- If I’ve recently covered a subject, think about whether you’re adding something new to the topic and pitch accordingly or not at all.
- The Making of Madrid does not run sponsored content or have affiliate links, so while it’s fine to mention your socials and product/service at the start and end of an interview, it’s not okay to spend the entire interview selling a product/service.
- I do most interviews online so all you need is a computer with a mic and a camera.
